2.67 – 2012 – McSpadden 4 String Cherry/Redwood Hourglass – £Sold
#56865 Model 4FHCR – flat peghead, hourglass, cherry body with redwood top, signed by the craftsman who made it (Brant Richardson) and in excellent condition. Comes with original McSpadden padded backpack-style case and aftermarket strap (to keep the instrument firmly on your knees!). Apparently cherry and redwood was the favoured McSpadden wood combination of the widely influential MD player, the late David Schnaufer.
Overall length 36”, lower bout 7″, upper bout 5¾”, depth 1¾”, FBW 1½”, VSL 28⅜” (medium/long scale), weight 1lb 16oz (901g). Has a 6½ and 12½ fret.
Another reliable instrument from the most recent incarnation of the McSpadden concern. All solid woods with a nicely figured and coloured cherry back and sides, and a very evenly grained redwood top. Has been set up from the outset with a low, easy action and hence ideal for fingerpicking. Great full, bright sound but with plenty of subtlety.
